Flying to Abu Dhabi

Guests can fly to Abu Dhabi if they are a UAE national, or a UAE resident registered with ICA, eligible for a visa on arrival (must have a return ticket), or they hold a pre-arranged visa issued from any emirate in the UAE.

Travellers arriving to Abu Dhabi must register via the ICA Smart Travel Service before they fly even if they are travelling to Dubai or another emirate. This applies to adults, children and infants.  This does not apply to UAE nationals or transit guests.

Step 1

All guests require a COVID-19 PCR test 48 hours before flying to Abu Dhabi, register for ICA approval and download the UAE Al Hosn app.

*Test timings are earlier from some origins, check etihad.com/destinationguide before they travel.

Step 2

They’ll have a COVID-19 PCR test when they land in Abu Dhabi airport

Step 3

Unless they’re travelling from a Green list country or travel corridor and are fully vaccinated, they must quarantine.

Step 4

All guests are required to take a follow up COVID-19 test on specified days depending on where they’ve travelled from and their vaccination status

Abu Dhabi green pass system

Abu Dhabi is operating a green pass system via the Al Hosn app.

Your customers will only be able to enter public places in Abu Dhabi if they’ve been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have green status in the Al Hosn app. This won’t apply to them if they are exempt from vaccination or under the age of 16 in which case they will automatically receive green status. If they are a national or resident of Bahrain, they will be able to use their green status in the BeAware Bahrain app instead. They may also use the official app from their country of origin to show their vaccinated status.

For green status:

  1. Guests must register via the ICA app or at ica.gov.ae as soon as possible before their flight
  2. When they land in Abu Dhabi, they’ll receive a UID number at immigration
  3. They must download the Al Hosn app and register using their UID
  4. Guests will receive green status on the Al Hosn app – they must present this to enter public places in Abu Dhabi, including hotels, restaurants, malls and supermarkets
  5. As an alternative to using the app, visit m.Alhosnapp.ae to check your latest PCR test result.

Who needs to quarantine in Abu Dhabi?

No quarantine is required for guests travelling on a direct flight from a Green list country.

There’s also no quarantine for guests flying to or from a travel corridor country, as long as they’ve been fully vaccinated.

If your customers are unvaccinated and travelling through a green list country from a non-green country to Abu Dhabi, and have spent less than 10 days in a green country before arriving, they must complete the quarantine in Abu Dhabi.

The time spent in the green country prior to arriving in Abu Dhabi will count towards the 10-day quarantine period. For example, if your customers have travelled from a non-green list location, and then spent four days in a green list country before travelling to Abu Dhabi, they will only need to quarantine for six days in order to complete the 10-day total quarantine.

If your customers are travelling from a country deemed to be high-risk, they may be subject to quarantine at a government facility.
